Each a prolific artist and author in his own right, Bob Hurd and Ken Canedo have worked together for many years, perhaps best known for their collaboration on the popular Mass of Glory. Now, these longtime friends and composers offer the first volume of their collection for Holy Week and the Easter season, We Should Glory, Volume 1.

With many of the songs implementing official texts from the Roman Missal and the Lectionary, these accessible, approachable songs will be a great addition to any parish repertoire. Though recognized for their gospel-style compositions, Bob and Ken didn’t limit their creativity to one genre in this collection. Instead, they focused on utilizing musical styles that complement each liturgical moment. Every title in this collection will capture the hearts of parishioners young and old, calling them to join together in song as they gather to proclaim Christ’s death and resurrection.

Featured Titles

  • “We Should Glory” – With a refrain taken from the entrance antiphon for Holy Thursday, this upbeat gospel-style piece written by both Bob and Ken includes additional verses for use throughout the Easter season.
  • “Not by Bread Alone” – Bob Hurd’s setting is based on the Communion antiphon for the First Sunday of Lent and features verses rooted in Scripture — Matthew 4:1–11 and Psalm 34.
  • “Six Days before the Passover” – Written for the entrance on Palm Sunday, this piece from Ken Canedo employs a refrain based on the entrance antiphon for the same celebration.

Stay tuned for We Should Glory, Volume 2 and their newest Mass setting, Mass of the Compassionate Christ.
